| dc.description | Prices of sorghum, millet and wheat steadily increased in most markets due to shortages in the 2011 production. Wheat prices, not only have shown a volatile trend, but were also nearly three times higher than international prices. About 3.2 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance. Moreover, as the lean season will start earlier than usual, the number is expected to increase further. Conflict in the South Kordofan and Blue Nile States, severely affects food security conditions , particularly constraining access to food of poorer households. The government has imposed restrictions to the delivery of emergency assistance to the conflict-affected population in the southern region. | |
