Descripción
In 2025, FAO advanced sustainable agriculture, climate resilience, ecosystem restoration, and One Health systems through integrated, multisectoral interventions nationwide. Over 5 000 stakeholders – including herders, farmers, government officials, youth, and private sector actors – were engaged through capacity-building, policy support, and field-level innovations, with strong participation of women and youth.Notable progress was achieved in productivity and livelihoods. Agroforestry systems expanded across nearly 1 900 hectares, improving soil moisture, crop yields, and climate resilience. Livestock interventions enhanced cashmere quality, dairy productivity, and herd management, while strengthened value chains enabled access to higher-value markets, including international exports. Nutrition outcomes improved through school milk initiatives, contributing to better child growth and awareness. At the policy and institutional level, FAO supported key legal reforms and strategies, integrating One Health, agroforestry, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) into national frameworks. Contributions to Mongolia’s NDC 3.0 and AMR National Action Plans strengthened climate and health governance, while adoption of Codex standards and AMR surveillance systems improved food safety.Environmental gains included ecosystem restoration, pasture and water protection, and enhanced biodiversity monitoring using digital tools.FAO will continue scaling climate-resilient practices, strengthening data systems, and supporting policy implementation to ensure sustainable impact.
