The Canadian Forest Service (CFS) of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) co-organized the workshop titled “Advancing Employment Data and Promoting Decent Work in the Forest Sector – Lessons learned and good practices from Canada”. The event was hosted by the Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC), while the scientific support for the workshop was provided by the Thünen Institute of Forestry. The main objective of the workshop was to integrate theoretical and practical knowledge regarding the current state of forest-related employment data, challenges in data collection, the reporting of internationally comparable data, measurement approaches and potential areas for improvement. The workshop also sought to explore current and future challenges of employment in the Canadian forest sector.
