| dc.description | To monitor the sustainability of coastal fisheries and their environmental, social and economic benefits, FAO teamed up with the University of Washington and Blue Matter Science Ltd. to develop the Fisheries Performance Assessment Toolkit (FPAT). FPAT measures fisheries performance, identifies problem areas, and suggests potential, stakeholder-driven solutions. FPAT was piloted in ten fisheries in a five-year effort involving researchers, fishers and fishworkers, the private sector and decision-makers in Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Ecuador, Indonesia, and Senegal as part of the mandate of the Coastal Fisheries Initiative to provide hands-on support to coastal fisheries in six countries across three geographies: Indonesia, Latin America and West Africa. | |
