The report gives an overview of climate change and agriculture in Tanzania. Tanzania was one of two countries that participated in the implementation of the pilot projects led by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) under the Mitigation of Climate Change in Agriculture Programme. The report looks at the policy environment for climate change in Agriculture in Tanzania, including their development vision and national climate change strategy. It looks at current and potent ial climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies: National Adaptation Programme of Action (NAPA), Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) and also REDD+ as a mechanism for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in AFOLU. It concludes that the government has engaged in efforts to reduce GHG emissions and that efforts by the government to modernize agriculture are underway through policy reforms and support from the private sector.
