dc.descriptionPor sus ventajas ecológicas, el uso de insecticidas de origen vegetal en el manejo de plagas ha ido incrementando. Sin embargo, existe una serie de problemas y creencias equivocadas que impiden una mejor aceptación de estos productos por parte del agricultor. Además, encaran lentos, problemáticos y desventajosos procesos de comercialización y registro, a pesar de tener un alto potencial para formar parte del manejo integrado de plagas como una estrategia de bajo riesgo. En este manuscrito se analizan el estado actual, ventajas y desventajas, junto con todos aquellos factores que no han permitido que este tipo de insecticidas no posea una mayor relevancia en el manejo de plagas. Vegetable Insecticides: A New-Old Option in Pest Management. Owing to its ecological advantages, the use of botanical insecticides in pest management has been increasing. However, some problems and misconceptions prevent better acceptance of these products by farmers. In addition, they face lengthy, cumbersome and disadvantageous registration and sale processes, despite their high potential to belong to low-risk pest management. This paper discusses the current status, advantages, disadvantages and the factors that prevent this type of insecticides from increasing their relevance in pest management.
