Descripción
Fostering responsible agricultural investment to achieve SDG2 is a complex task, often hampered by a lack of awareness of existing global instruments, governance challenges, capacity issues and knowledge gaps. Overcoming these hurdles requires across-the-board engagement, from governments and the private sector to small-scale producers, rural communities and civil-society organizations. This initiative aims to boost responsible policies and investments in agriculture and food systems by encouraging countries to follow international guidance on Sustainable Food and Agriculture, including the Principles for Responsible Investment in Agriculture and Food Systems (RAI), the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure (VGGT), the Voluntary Guidelines on the Right to Food (VGRtF) and the Voluntary Guidelines for Security Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries (SSF). FAO will build on the tools it has already developed, such as e-learning material and umbrella programmes, to apply these instruments. The purpose is to sharpen the impact on SDGs 1 and 2 through national policies, investments and legal frameworks, and to introduce an approach that will integrate the application of the voluntary guidelines where relevant.
