The FAO Strategy on Climate Change 2022–2031 is implemented through Action Plans. The first Action Plan was developed to support the implementation over the period 2022–2025. It was informed by inputs received from FAO Members, FAO Senior Management, FAO technical divisions/units and FAO Decentralized Offices during the various formal and informal consultations conducted for the preparation of the Strategy and since its endorsement by the FAO Council at its 170th Session in June 2022. Building on the achievements and lessons learned from the implementation of the Action Plan 2022–2025, the Action Plan was updated for 2026–2029 to continue to guide FAO’s climate action and ensure the successful implementation of the Strategy in alignment with the FAO Medium-Term Plan 2026–2029 and the FAO Reviewed Strategic Framework 2022–2031. The update of the Action Plan was informed by inputs from technical divisions and Decentralized Offices and considered the recent developments in FAO strategic vision, guidance from Governing Bodies, and evolving nature of the global climate agenda in the framework of the UNFCCC. It also took into consideration the mid-term review of the implementation of the Strategy and the progress implementation achieved to date as collected in the reports for the previous period.
