This carousel examines how climate adaptation efforts in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta can unintentionally create new risks. While measures like shrimp-rice farming and water infrastructure offer short-term resilience, they often generate social, economic, and ecological vulnerabilities, especially for smallholder and marginalized communities. The analysis shows how exclusion from decision-making leads to maladaptation, conflict, and inequality, and argues for a human security approach that centers local voices, equity, and long-term wellbeing in adaptation planning.
