This publication is a compilation of statistics of the numbers of people employed annually in commercial and subsistence fishing, operating in freshwater, brackishwater and marine areas, and in aquaculture production activities. Statistics are presented for the period 1970-1996. Starting with the data for 1990, wherever possible, data for employment in aquaculture production and for female employment are shown separately.
