| dc.description | The main characteristics of the sugar industries in Cuba and Florida are analyzed for the period 1980-93. In the case of Cuba, the 1990-93 period deserves separate consideration because of the changes taking place in the Cuban economy after 1989. The issue of competition and complementarity between the industries in both countries is addressed through the analysis of the problem posed by the potential restoration of part of the former U.S. Cuban sugar quota, and the current situation in world sugar markets. | |
