dc.descriptionEn esta investigación se hizo una caracterización social y económica de las comunidades que están bajo el área de influencia del proyecto y se identificaron los cambios que ha generado la presencia del mismo. Igualmente se hizo un recuento histórico del comportamiento de la deforestación en el área, para conocer la situación actual de la cuenca y los motivos de la concesión. Como parte de la metodología empleada, para la realización de esta investigación, se hizo entrevistas a miembros de la comunidad, así como a informantes claves de instituciones gubernamentales involucradas en el área y a las autoridades locales. Además se establecieron los indicadores para identificar el impacto del proyecto en las comunidades. La caracterización socioeconómica permitió distinguir las condiciones de la calidad de vida de las comunidades, cuando basan su economía en agricultura de subsistencia y cuando tienen alternativas de empleo como se encontró en la comunidad de Santa Clara. En la identificación de impactos se encontró que la empresa Ecoforest (Panamá), S.A., con el proyecto de reforestación ha influido positivamente en la condición de vida de las comunidades, al generar empleo, directos e indirectos, y desarrollar obras sociales en las comunidades. Además de contribuir con la protección de los recursos naturales.
dc.descriptionThis investigation a social and economic characterization was carried out in the communities in the zone where the project operates and the changes that have developed from the project were identified. A historic recount of the behavior of the deforestation the area was carried out, so as to learn about the actual situation of the basin and the motives of the concession. As part of the methodology used, to carry out this investigation member of the community were interviewed, as well as, key informants of government institutions involved in the area and the local authorities. Indicators were also established to identify the impact of the project in the communities. The economic characterization allowed the conditions of the quality of life of the communities to be distinguished when their economy is based on subsistence agriculture and when they have alternatives of employment as was found in the community of Santa Clara. In the identification of the impacts it was found that the company Ecoforest (Panama), S.A., with the reforestation project has influenced positively in the quality of life of the communities, generating direct and indirect employment and developing social labors in the communities. Furthermore, it has contributed with the protection of the natural resources.
