Descripción
The International Year of Pulses (IYP) helped to raise awareness on the importance of pulses. In order to continue heightening public awareness on the benefits of pulses, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), at its 73rd session in December 2018, endorsed the proposal made by Burkina Faso regarding the annual observance of the World Pulses Day on 10 February (A/RES/73/251). The UNGA invited the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to facilitate the observance of the World Pulses Day.
Based on the benefits that pulses provide to agrifood systems and the environment, the Steering Committee selected “Pulses for a Sustainable Future” as the theme for the 2023 celebration.
