During the 27th Session of the Committee on Forestry (COFO), held in Rome from 22-26 July, representatives from Indonesia, Peru, Uganda, Japan and the European Union, together with experts of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and stakeholders gathered for the 9th World Forest Week (WFW) side event “Greening synergies Innovative solutions to halt deforestation through sustainable agricultural supply chains and financial enablers”.Digitalization and transparency of information and data are key to tracking and demonstrate that commodities and agricultural supply chains are not negatively impacting forests, a clear example of this came from Peru. This presentation is about how Peru is making significant digital innovations in greening the agricultural sector. Products such as coffee, cocoa, and oil palm have advanced in geo-referencing through the digital identity of the Registry of Agricultural Producers, aiming to comply with increasing market-based regulations. Over 80% of these products are already georeferenced.
