| dc.description | This document is the final report of the thirteenth session of the Western Central Atlantic Fishery Commission (WECAFC) and of the tenth session of the Committee for the Development and Management of Fisheries in the Lesser Antilles held in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, from 21 to 24 October 2008. Major topics discussed during the sessions were: the state of fishery resources and the status and trends of fisheries and aquaculture in the WECAFC region; climate change implications for fisheries a nd aquaculture; FAO fishery statistics programme and WECAFC; and Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) issues with respect to fish trade and CITES/FAO Memorandum of Understanding. The Commission was successful in addressing the different agenda items, including the adoption of its programme of work for 2008–09. It noted that extrabudgetary resources would be required for its implementation. The Commission also approved the draft rules of procedur e, which were adopted by the third meeting of the Intersessional Working Group on the strengthening of WECAFC. | |
