| dc.description | Developed under a Food and Agriculture Organization project funded by the Government of Japan, this practical field tool enables a clear comparison between farms using Climate-Smart Agriculture practices and those using conventional methods. It is designed for provinces like Luang Prabang and Oudomxay, supporting the Climate-Smart Village model. The tool is structured around five data collection sections: farmer and practice identification, seasonal inputs and costs, production and income, resilience indicators, and farmer perceptions. Information from these sections feeds into a simple scoring dashboard. This dashboard benchmarks performance against the three pillars of Climate-Smart Agriculture: increased productivity, enhanced adaptation and resilience, and mitigation co-benefits.By combining quantitative cost-benefit analysis with qualitative environmental and perceptual metrics, the tool empowers the Agriculture Extension Force to make evidence-based decisions. It helps identify which practice packages are truly "triple win," manage trade-offs, and refine local recommendations. The final score, ranging from excellent to needs significant refinement, guides whether a practice is ready for scaling up. Ultimately, this participatory approach ensures that local knowledge and farmer feedback remain central to building more resilient and productive farming systems. | |
