This brief provides an overview of rice production and yield trends across Latin America to 2050, drawing on expert consultations and empirical evidence to examine how biophysical, technological, environmental, and market conditions drive variation in productivity across countries. It identifies emerging challenges and opportunities shaping the future of the rice sector, highlighting where yield ceilings are being approached, where moderate growth remains feasible, and where structural constraints will limit progress.
