Resumen
Descripción
Small Island Developing States (SIDS) share similar sustainable development challenges, including susceptibility to natural disasters, vulnerability to external shocks, and excessive dependence on international trade. Fisheries, tourism and agriculture contribute significantly to national Gross Domestic Product (GDP); however, these sectors are particularly vulnerable to the changing climate. In this context, the project aimed to assist the six African SIDS (Cabo Verde, Comoros [the], Guinea Bissau, Mauritius, Sao Tome and Principe, and Seychelles), taking into account their unique vulnerabilities as well as their heterogeneity, to build climate change resiliency within their agricultural sectors through various development pathways. The project was implemented in three primary countries, namely Cabo Verde, Guinea Bissau and Seychelles; however, all six SIDS countries will benefit through intraregional exchange and knowledge sharing activities.
