The Amazon Sustainable Landscapes (ASL) Program, 2025 Progress Report presents an overview of achievements and ongoing efforts to promote integrated landscape management, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development across the Amazon region. Funded by the Global Environment Facility and led by the World Bank, the program brings together eight Amazonian countries to address shared environmental challenges through coordinated, multi-sectoral interventions. The report highlights progress from national and regional projects implemented under the first two phases of the program (ASL1 and ASL2), with initial developments from ASL3. By 2025, the program has significantly expanded protected areas, enhanced ecosystem management, and supported restoration and sustainable land-use practices across millions of hectares. Key achievements include strengthening the management effectiveness of over 90 million hectares of protected areas, restoring degraded lands, mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, and directly benefiting thousands of local stakeholders, including Indigenous and community groups. The ASL approach emphasizes collaboration across countries, institutions, and communities through four core pillars: protected area conservation, sustainable production landscapes, enabling policy frameworks, and capacity building. The report also underscores the importance of regional coordination, knowledge sharing, and adaptive learning in achieving program outcomes. Overall, the report demonstrates how integrated, landscape-scale solutions, supported by strong partnerships and inclusive participation, can deliver measurable environmental, social, and economic benefits. It reinforces the critical role of regional cooperation and community engagement in securing the long-term sustainability and resilience of the Amazon ecosystem.
