dc.descriptionIn India, the Agroecology Initiative is led by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), in collaboration with the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), WorldFish, and Center for International Forestry Research and World Agroforestry (CIFOR-ICRAF). This effort is in partnership with organizations such as Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Professional Assistance for Development Action (PRADAN), Foundation for Ecological Security (FES), and Rythu Sadhikara Samstha (RySS) in two ALLs - Andhra Pradesh (AP) and Madhya Pradesh (MP) located in Southern and Central India respectively. The Initiative activities are carried out in five work packages Work Package 1: Transdisciplinary co-creation of innovations (beyond practices) in a network of ALLs to test & understand the benefits of agroecological approaches Work Package 2: Agroecology evidence-based assessments Work Package 3: Inclusive business models with a focus on agroecological principles Work Package 4: Coherent policies and institutional arrangements conducive to agroecological transitions Work Package 5: Understanding and influencing behavioural change
