The agricultural sector in Lebanon and particularly the milk and dairy segment represents one of the major sources of income for rural poor farming communities in Lebanon. FAO, in collaboration with the Government of Lebanon’s Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) and thanks to funding from the Lebanese Recovery Fund (LRF), executed two projects, over a period of four years, to kick-start sustainable milk production and improvement of the food safety standards of the dairy industry in Lebanon. Major emphasis was put on improving the quality and hygienic standards of milk and dairy products to safeguard the Lebanese consumer and to improve the milk prices.
