INFLUENCIA DE DIFERENTES VARIANTES DE FERTILIZACIÓN EN EL CRECIMIENTO Y DESARROLLO DE POSTURAS DE Coffea canephora Pierre

| dc.description | An experiment was carried out at the Central Research Station of Coffee and Cocoa (ECICC), with the aim of evaluating the response of Coffea canephora Pierre to arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus fertilization (AMF), Azotobacter chroococcum and urea. Azotobacter strain was isolated from coffee rhizosphere in a noncarbonated ocric Brown soil. The inoculum was obtained at DIMARGON medium and applied as 1010UFC.mL-1. Mycorrhizal inoculum (Glomus fasciculatum, Glomus clarum) was taken from the strain collection of INCA; also a native strain concentrate was used. A mixture of propagules resulting from sorghum mycorrhization in a sterile soil containing hyphae, rootlets and 40 spores/g soil was used for inoculation. A randomized block design with 12 treatments and three replicates was employed, then six months after cuttings had been planted, evaluations were performed on stem height (cm), stem diameter (cm), leaf area (cm2), total dry weight (g), nutrient extraction (mg), also determining mycorrhizal colonization percentage. There was a positive response of Coffea canephora to inoculation by Azotobacter and AMF. The positive mycorrhizal effect depended on the strains employed. The application of Glomus fasciculatum as a certified strain to coffee inoculation in a Brown soil was reaffirmed. There was no positive response of leaf area applied to coffee seedling growth. The answer to coinoculation depended on it and it is feasible when utilizing soil natural inoculum potential, which is expressed by P absorption increments. Through Glomus clarum, Azotobacter reduced the effect or had no effect at all on cutting morphology, whereas by Glomus fasciculatum, P absorption increased. Native strain concentrate should not be applied together with Azotobacter nor urea, since it decreases leaf area and P absorption. | |
