In 2024, the Government of Sweden, through the Swedish International Development CooperationAgency (Sida), contributed SEK 74 million (USD 7.15 million) to the Food and Agriculture Organizationof the United Nations (FAO). Thanks to this support, FAO implemented five projects from 1 March 2024 to 28 February 2025 – three funded via SFERA – aimed at scaling up life-saving agricultural assistance and advancing anticipatory action to assist communities affected by food crises in Afghanistan, the Niger and Somalia. Through these projects, FAO supported 36 603 vulnerable households (302 600 people), including 6 396 female-headed households, to improve their food security, nutrition, and self-reliance and engage in the livelihood activities they depend on despite the challenges.
