The Scaling Up Resilience in Africa’s Great Green Wall (SURAGGWA) programme is a large‑scale regional initiative implemented by FAO with support from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and in partnership with the Pan‑African Agency of the Great Green Wall (PAGGW). Covering eight Sahelian countries, the programme seeks to strengthen climate resilience, improve livelihoods and food security, and promote integrated landscape management. With a total budget of USD 222 million—including USD 150 million from the GCF—SURAGGWA focuses on landscape restoration, the development of climate‑resilient value chains for non‑timber forest products, and institutional strengthening. Expected results include 1.88 million direct beneficiaries, 1.27 million hectares restored, and 65 million tonnes of CO₂e sequestered.
