The Generating Revenues and Opportunities for Women to Improve Nutrition in Ghana (GROWING) project (March 2022-Dec 2026) is an integrated climate smart, agriculture-nutrition-marketing project that aims to improve the nutritional and financial security of women, young children, and youth. GROWING operates in six districts of Ghana including East Mamprusi and Chereponi districts in Northeast region, Saboba and Gushegu districts in Northern region, North Gonja and West Gonja districts in Savannah region. By improving the enabling environment, increasing the agency of women, and transforming unequal gender relations, this action research project seeks to achieve the ultimate goal of improved nutritional and financial security of women, youth, and young children. With a goal of reaching 7,560 women of reproductive age (pregnant or lactating mothers), their children under five years of age, and their spouses, there are three overlapping cycles of implementations: Cycle 1 (2023-2024) reaching 1,080 households; Cycle 2 (2024-2025) reaching 2,160 households, and Cycle 3 (2024-2026) reaching 4,320 households. The Year 1 (March 2022-December 2022) progress report described the Project Implementation Plan (PIP) refinement process and the establishment of the management structure, and the initiation of the community sensitization and registration of households into GROWING Futures Clubs (GFCs), for which both the mother and father of the young child are recruited, and administration of the baseline survey. A target of 30 households (women with young children and their spouses) per GFC was set. This Year 2 (January 2023-December 2023) report reports on the achievements and lessons learned during the implementation of the first year of the first two-year cycle of intervention, where we exceed our target number of households, reaching 1,131 in 37 GFCs established. The main report provides a summary of key outputs achieved and progress made towards the immediate outcomes within each of the three major intermediate outcomes. This year was clearly a learning year, where job tools and participatory approaches to engaging with GFC members were tested, often revised and many lessons learned. The report is supplemented by Appendix A (Outcome Reporting Performance Management Framework Worksheet Year 2), Appendix B (Output and Activities Reporting Worksheet Year 2), Appendix (the Year 3 GROWING Detailed Activity Plan by Month) and eleven additional Appendices D through N containing detailed supplemental information.
