Indonesia is home to highly diverse ecosystems, richbiodiversity, and globally important habitats. With a largeterritory comprised of thousands of islands, guardingentry and departure points against potential threats tohealth and biodiversity is essential. A need to strengthenexisting applicable regulations concerning the entryof pests and diseases into Indonesia including thedevelopment of regulations to control their movementbetween islands, was recognized. Against this backdrop,this project was designed with the aim of enhancingnational capacities to prevent, detect, control, andrespond to zoonotic diseases and health threats througha focus on improving the biosecurity system and capacitystrengthening of relevant government officers.
