Descripción
Tonga’s exports of yam declined in value from USD 1.83 million in 2017 to USD 0.33 million in 2023, despite growing global demand. New Zealand, Australia and (the) United States of America accounted for 97.6 percent of Tonga’s yam exports, indicating the lack of a well-diversified export market. Non-tariff barriers rather than tariffs in major markets such as (the) United States of America, Canada and New Zealand are major challenges to increasing Tonga’s yam exports.
