Knowledge of biology and population growth potential is crucialfor studying its dynamics and establishing management tactics for pestcontrol. Biological parameters such as the duration of developmentalstages and population growth obtained from fertility life tables areimportant for that knowledge. The main parameters associated with afertility life table are the net reproductive rate (Ro), intrinsic rate ofincrease (rm ), mean generation time (T), finite rate of increase (l) andthe doubling time (D). Jackknife procedure is used to calculate thestandard error of the r m estimate, which can be extended to the otherparameters of life tables. The method is computer-intensive and requiresthe use of quick, efficient and reliable programs that permit thecomparison between experimental cohorts of aphids in laboratory. Theobjective of this work was to develop computer programs in order tocompound fertility life tables and calculate the main biological anddemographic parameters of experimental aphid populations underlaboratory conditions. Two autoexecutable, high capacity, ease to useand efficient programs, so called TABLAVI and PERIOD, were obtained.Some considerations and suggestions about the use of the programs inother insects with complete metamorphosis are also exposed
