Descripción
Although the smallholder sector holds the majority of the national livestock population, their contribution to national and household food and nutrition and income security has been low. This is largely the result of low productivity and low offtake caused by limitations in service delivery livestock extension, research, input supply, credit and marketing services.
In response, the project aimed to support farmers in increasing household food, income and nutrition security through the commercialization of an integrated and sustainable smallholder livestock sector in Zimbabwe, with particular emphasis placed on the two districts of Lupaneand Nkayi in Matabeleland North Province for development of the livestock value chains.
