This analysis aims to present the influence of imbalance of self-government finance of rural communes
in Małopolska province on the level of their development in economic, environmental and social aspects. Zero
unitarization method and indexes of stochastic structure were used to carry out this research. The results showed
that the increase in imbalance of self-government finance of rural communes is concomitant with the influx in
their level of development in economic, environmental and social aspects. Taking into account a short-term
perspective, it should be pinpointed that the imbalance of self-government finance has a positive effect on the
level of development of the researched communes.
