Descripción
The main problem to be addressed by the Strengthening Agro-climatic Monitoring and Information Systems (SAMIS) project was the lack of human and institutional capacity to monitor and analyseclimate variability and climate change impacts in the agricultural sector in both near-real time and the future. The project responded to this problem by providing solutions of a technical nature that were new or unknown to beneficiaries and stakeholders. The project had two objectives: i) to enhance at national and provincial levels, monitoring, analysis, communication and the use of agrometeorological data and information for decision-making in relation to agriculture and food security; and ii) to improve the monitoring and analysis of agricultural production systems by strengthening land resources information management systems through the development of a Land Resources Information Management System (LRIMS) and agroecological zoning (AEZ) to support agricultural policies and climate-change adaptation.
