The Department of Fisheries of Myanmar has been cooperating with the EAF-Nansen Programme, funded by the Norwegian Agency for development cooperation (Norad), and led by FAO in close collaboration with the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research (IMR), to assess the status of marine capture fishery resources in Myanmar’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). This document summarises the main results of three marine fishery/ecosystem surveys conducted in Myanmar’s waters in 2013, 2015 and 2018, with the use of the research vessel Dr Fridtjof Nansen. It also presents an overview of the main findings from previous surveys by contrasting current and past findings.
