The Training Workshop on Aquapark Establishmtn and Operation is scheduled to be held from 23 to 29 October 2023 in Wuxi, China. In aquaculture, “aquapark” refers to an aquaculture organizational model developed to support small-scale aquafarmers throughout the sustainable aquaculture value chain. It involves incorporating fragmented production farms with limited productivity and efficiency into a more effective value chain formed by aggregated aquaparks. These aquaparks are overseen by specialized management service provision units, all within a community based coordination and support framework. The workshop intends to achieve the following: (i) introduce the aquapark concept, provide an global overview of aquapark development and share best practices on the establishment and operation of aquaparks in China; (ii) provide government officers from around the globe with enhanced capacity building and training to learn from the Chinese experience in aquapark planning, establishment, operation, management and public private-partnerships; and (iii) encourage and guide participants to prepare proposals on aquapark establishment in their respective countries. Invited participants include government officers, FAO country programme officers from Africa, Latin America and Caribbean and Asia-Pacific as well as other relevant actors.
