This particular issue of the Information Leaf summarizes key information on the new National Protected Areas Classification System for Trinidad and Tobago. The publication references the National Protected Areas Policy (2011) which outlines the framework for designation of the national system of protected areas. The document defines and explains the rationale for agreement on a conservation objective as a first step in recommendation of the pertinent category of protected area in this new sys tem. The document also identifies the seven categories of protected areas that are specified in the national policy document.
