Community forestry has been promoted for several decades by international organizations in order to improve forest management. This concept refers to a wide range of initiatives aimed at maximizing the ecological and socio-economic benefits of forestry practices for local communities. In order to assess the real scope of community forestry measures, it is necessary to examine how this concept and its basic principles have been implemented in national contexts. Indonesia and Cameroon have significant forest reserves, but face major forest management challenges. In these two states, community forestry programs cover a large areas, but the modalities of their implementation vary according to context. This research offers a comparative analysis of community forestry measures in Indonesia and Cameroon. This project aims to identify in existing scientific literature and official documents of the two countries the operating rules and the objectives stipulated in community forestry programs. This research uses the institutional theoretical approach based on the Institutional Analysis and Development Framework (Ostrom) to carry out an exhaustive critical analysis of community forest management creation and management in these two jurisdictions.
