dc.descriptionThe purpose of this study was to review general principles on forest information systems, to identify organizations involved in development of forest information systems in the Asia-Pacific region, to describe future national forest information systems and to recommend an appropriate framework for development of national forest information systems. The main findings in this report are based on studies of literature available on the Internet. In addition a study visit was made at FAO headquarter in Rome where most of their forest information systems were discussed with responsible developers. Experiences from the above mentioned case studies and questionnaires have been included in this report.
