The HiH Initiative project contributed to identifying and developing practical pathways for reducing extreme poverty and hunger and improving nutrition in the prioritized territories. By focusing on vulnerable and marginalized populations, the initiative strengthened the foundation for enhancing food and nutrition security and supporting livelihood resilience. Through the development and validation of government-led PIPs, the project provided a clear framework for mobilizing financial and in-kind resources from multiple stakeholders, ensuring that investments are targeted, coordinated and aligned with local needs.The value chain analyses (VCAs) and corresponding investment plans for seven commodities, potato, banana, anchovy, cactus, pepper, poultry and honey, established a basis for evidence informed decision making and investment strategies. These outputs are expected to support more inclusive and diversified production systems, improved access to affordable and nutritious products, and contribute to long-term socio-economic development in rural communitiesBy laying this groundwork, the HiH Initiative advanced the achievement of SDG 1 and SDG 2, providing a clear basis for future investments, estimated at USD 70 million, aimed at benefiting poor and vulnerable populations. While the project did not directly implement interventions, it created the conditions for informed, strategic action to address poverty and hunger.
