Resumen
Descripción
The COVID-19 outbreak has highlighted the devastating impact of transboundary diseases and the importance of preparedness, surveillance, and implementation of preventive measures in order to protect human health. It has also demonstrated the importance of coordinated international action in the management of transboundary diseases. Such coordinated international action is also fundamental to protect the world’s forests from forest invasive species (transboundary insect pests, pathogens, vertebrates, plants).
Adriana Moreira, IPPC standard setting officer responds to a main question concerning IPPC role in preventing pest outbeaks and increasing resilience of forests.
