Resumen

Descripción

There has been significant progress on country efforts to develop multi-purpose National Forest Monitoring System (NFMS) that inform national policy processes and also provide the basis for REDD+ reporting. This progress is summarised in a recent FAO publication “From Reference Levels to Results Reporting – REDD+ under the UNFCCC – 2018 Update”. In light of this progress, a new FAO publication “Strengthening National Forest Monitoring System for REDD+” provides specific actions and recommendations for further strengthening multipurpose NFMS. In light of these publications that provide a summary of the significant progress and actions and recommendations for further strengthening NFMS, the proposed event Consolidating success: Progress on forest monitoring for REDD+ will provide a forum for panellists to discuss international and country efforts and progress in building and strengthening NFMS. It will bring together representatives of several leading developing countries, as well as representatives of donors. ©FAO 2018 xxxxxx/x/xx.18
