Resumen

Descripción

The project contributed to raising awareness and building policy-level resilience in agrifood systems across the region, supporting the broader objectives of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1 and 2, ensuring countries most affected by the crisis would be better prepared to address its consequences on national food security through improved understanding and identification of appropriate policy measures. Alignment with relevant strategic frameworks, including Country Programme Frameworks, United Nations Development Assistance Framework outcomes and national priorities, was strong, resulting in an overall assessment of excellent relevance. The Regional Parliamentary Summit further amplified the project’s potential impact by engaging legislators in identifying strategic measures to transform agrifood systems, promote resilience and enhance regional cooperation. Although full implementation of policy recommendations remains pending, the project has laid the groundwork for evidence-informed decision making, strengthened stakeholder engagement and enhanced the capacity of countries to respond to multidimensional food security risks. Overall, the project made an initial, tangible contribution to improving the resilience of agrifood systems in the region and created a foundation for medium and long-term impact.
