Resumen

Descripción

The project made significant contributions toward the expected impact of improved land policy, facilitating good governance of tenure, sustainable land management and farm structure transformation to enhance agricultural productivity, competitiveness, livelihoods and rural development. It achieved this by revising the legal and institutional frameworks governing the land domain and strengthening the capacities of institutions to manage state land and operate land consolidation instruments. At project closure, the legislation on agricultural land had not yet been adopted, which prevented the full implementation of the pilot land consolidation activities. Nevertheless, the project laid a strong foundation for future impact, including by developing the technical specification for the Agricultural Land Information System, a key platform for digital land management, to be implemented through follow-up interventions, thereby sustaining institutional capacity and supporting the reform process.
