dc.descriptionClimate change and variability are water crisis emergencies that must be nested within robust institutional architecture to craft sustainable agricultural water management (AWM) solutions tailored to the changing climate. Institutional and governance architecture—both formal and informal—provides the structural foundation for water management practices in climate crises. They determine access to water, allocate resources, and enforce regulations. This chapter explores the pivotal role of institutions and governance in AWM, which is essential for developing resilient food systems amid climate change and resource scarcity. This is even more important as agriculture globally uses about 70% of the available water resources.
