dc.descriptionThe southern African region is highly exposed to natural hazards, i.e. cyclones, floods, droughts and earthquakes. This brief showcases a number of adaptive architecture cases that are replicable and can be transformed into normal community and national practices. The objective is to offer an overview of the wealth of experiences so as to take stock and transform experience into capitalized practices, normal disaster-resistant constructive behaviour and, ultimately, enforceable policies.
