The First Project Steering Committee (PSC) Meeting of the project “Protection of the Canary Current Large Marine Ecosystem” (CCLME) was held in Dakar, Senegal on 4 November 2010. Representatives from the seven participating countries (Morocco, Mauritania, Cape Verde, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea and Guinea Bissau), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Abidjan Convention Secretariat, the Sub-Regional Fisheries Commission (SRFC) and the CCLME Regional Coordinating Unit (RCU) attended the meeting. A number of cofinancing and other partner organizations attended the meeting as observers. The list of participants in attached as Annex 1.</p> The overall aim of this first PSC meeting was to examine and approve the overall project work plan (2010-2015), the 2011 work plan and estimated budget, the proposed technical working groups and their terms of references and the CCLME Monitoring and Evaluation Plan. This PSC meeting wa s also requested to examine and approve the terms of references of the PSC, National Inter-Ministry Committees (NICs), National Project Focal Points (NPFPs) and National Technical Coordinators (NTCs) and to consider the establishment of a Project Executive Committee. The adopted agenda of the meeting is attached as Annex 2.
