An overview of the history, current status and outlook for the devolution of forestry in the Asia-Pacific region with specific discussion of policies in South and Southeast Asia. The impact of different policies are assessed and lessons learned from the introduction of new initiatives are presented. Future scenarios are outlined and suggestions for improved policies and methods of implementing them are given alongside possible problems and constraints.
