This report was prepared within the framework of the FAO/World Bank Cooperative Programme of the Investment Centre. </p>.In the year 2000 Ecuador had 11,6 Millions hectares of forests which was 47% of the country’s continental area. At the pace of extremely quick deforestation of 1.5% annually, which is four times higher than all the neighbouring countries, 1 million hectares of forests may have been gone by this year.
