| dc.description | A series of flooding during the first half of the 2016 monsoon season have affected large numbers of people, damaged housing and infrastructure. Despite the negative impact of the floods, above-average monsoon rains helped alleviate areas affected by El Niño-induced dryness in the 2015/16 agricultural season, benefitting planting and early crop development of the 2016 main season crops. Although crop losses are likely to be significant at local level, 2016 production prospects for the 2016 main season at the national level remain positive. | |
