| dc.description | In the Caribbean Small Island Developing States (SIDS) fisheries are vitally important for the livelihoods of the population. Many coastal communities depend on income and food from fisheries. In the whole Caribbean Region production has declined by 40 percent over the last two decades. The region’s fishery resources are among the most overexploited in the world. Fifty five percent of commercially harvested fishery stocks are overexploited or depleted and 40 percent of stocks are currently fully exploited. | |
