This info brief re-conceptualizes Living Labs within the CGIAR by examining the implementation of a Living Lab for People (LL4P) in Nandi County, Kenya. Drawing on a multi-year, participatory case study, it demonstrates how deeply contextualized, citizen-centric Living Lab can enable low emission food system innovation in rural, low-income settings. It highlights the importance of sustained co-design, inclusive governance, and gradual transfer of ownership from external facilitators to local institutions. The Kenyan LL4P illustrates how Living Labs can function as long-term innovation platforms, supporting equitable scaling, locally led adaptation, and institutional transformation.
