It has been shown that the B. dracunculifolia essential oil has biological activity against some microorganisms. Isolation of the essential oil from B. dracunculifolia which were submitted to hydric or saline stress have shown decreased activity. Despite the fact that the nature of the extracted mixture of compounds remained unchanged, it has been observed a clear increase in the amount of some of them. A quantitation study, comparing with six standard natural on sythetic standard is under way. Differences observed in the essential oils from others Baccharis species suggest a correlation with its evolutive character.
